Discovering the Bondage of the Laodicean Church
This word is heavy. It’s really heavy. It was completely unexpected when the Lord began speaking to me about this subject. I had already written out a blog post He’d given to me, the third and final portion of Knowing God, and was set to type it up when well… this happened.
If you’ve read Knowing God Part I and Part II, then you’re already fully aware that He had me go in on how the Laodicean doctrine has infiltrated the church at large. Bondage has kept us looking like a sickly and really… thin sheep herd. It’s this bondage that He wants me to reallllly tackle today, and expose what is not just holding His people back from grasping what time we’re in (because we are a Joshua generation at the present time of writing this article), but from being combat effective Christians.
It’s time to dive in my friends. I hope you’re ready, because this is BIG.
You’re in Bondage if You’re a Lukewarm Christian
Bondage. So quickly, so we can really move into the definition of bondage and how all of this is going to make sense by the end of this article, let’s revisit our founding scripture for this series:
2 “Son of man, speak to your people and say to them: ‘When I bring the sword against a land, and the people of the land choose one of their men and make him their watchman,
3 and he sees the sword coming against the land and blows the trumpet to warn the people,
4 then if anyone hears the trumpet but does not heed the warning and the sword comes and takes their life, their blood will be on their own head.
5 Since they heard the sound of the trumpet but did not heed the warning, their blood will be on their own head. If they had heeded the warning, they would have saved themselves.
6 But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people and the sword comes and takes someone’s life, that person’s life will be taken because of their sin, but I will hold the watchman accountable for their blood.’
This is a warning. If I can make it any more clear, the gist of what I’m going to tell you is a warning and an exposure of what I’m here to warn you about.
Bondage is the focus of Part I of this Series, “The Marriage Contract.” It’s what He told me to title it, and by the time we’re finished understanding what the Spirit has to say to us today, we’ll probably have a good understanding as to why He wants to discuss the bondage hovering over the Bride of the Lamb.
So bondage, and its application to the world’s system, isn’t directly stated in the founding scripture. and I get that. Wait for it, because bondage is the crux of the world system, and I’m here to show you that so you know it deeply for yourself.
Bondage is defined as, “the state of one who is bound as a slave or serf” [1]. I don’t know about you, but I immediately understood that I didn’t know what in the world a serf was and that it would be critical to my reception of what the Almighty Yah was trying to show me to look that word up next.
So that’s what I did.
Serf, according to the New Oxford American Dictionary, means, “an agricultural laborer bound under the feudal system to work their lord’s estate.” The focus for me was agricultural, as the Lord was speaking to an agricultural community while the Bible was being written. They understood what it meant to sow and to reap. For heaven’s sake, in the beginning Yahuah created the heavens and the earth and out of all the places He decided to place man, He put them in a garden (Genesis 1). Immediately I knew He was taking me back to the beginning. He was speaking to the root of men. And this bondage was not only attacking the identity of men in Christ, but was keeping us from connecting with Him.
What’s critical to know is that bondage didn’t stop there. When I looked it up on Wordnik, there was a fourth definition under The American Heritage® Dictionary’s version that caught my eye: “villeinage.” This is where it gets plentttyy interesting, my friends, and where we are going to embark down a rabbit hole of understanding to remove the scales that have been covering the eyes of the Laodicean church.
YOU ARE EITHER A SLAVE TO SIN OR A SLAVE TO THE KING OF KINGS
Villenage, according to GNU version of the Collaborative International Dictionary of English, is similar to the word ‘villanage’, and is defined as, “the state of a villain, or serf; base servitude; tenure on condition of doing the meanest services for the lord.” It’s here that I started, my friend. When I saw the word villeinage, the first definition I found was for this version. Then I began to investigate villeinage, and what I found was that according to The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, villeinage is, “the legal status or condition of a villein.”
Now I know what you’re thinking: let’s just get to what a villein is, because it looks an awful lot like villain, and we don’t like that. Well, villein, the dictionary continues, is, “one of a class of feudal serfs who held the legal status of freemen in their dealings with all people except their lord.” [2] Right below that, The Century Dictionary says, “see villain.”
I could tell, while doing my research for this article, that the Lord was steering me to define the word that I had been avoiding: villain. The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language came through once again, defining the word in the simplest terms as, “a wicked or evil person; a scoundrel.” I didn’t have to dive deeper to understand what that was, I knew Disney. But with all these definitions filling my head, my eyes still came back to feudal. All these definitions were circling a specific system during a specific period of time, and I needed to understand what that time period was. They didn’t use the word medieval, which I knew well. And honestly, when I thought of feudal lords, I thought of the Warring States period of the Three Kingdoms in China. I wasn’t sure if I was right on that, so I digress.
Villein, as the told by the Etymology portion of its Wikipedia entry, “was a term used in the feudal system to denote a peasant (tenant farmer) who was legally tied to a lord of the manor.” So like I said, we understand that feudalism is a system (bear with me.) Feudalism, is most accurately defined as, “the feudal system; a system by which the holding of estates in land is made dependent upon an obligation to render military service to the king or feudal superior; feudal principles and usages” [3]. This is the world’s system right here.
It hit me like a ton of bricks. The Wiktionary went on to describe it as, “a social system based on personal ownership of resources and personal fealty between a suzerain (lord) and a vassal (subject). Defining characteristics are direct ownership of resources, personal loyalty, and a hierarchical social structure reinforced by religion.” This got personal. Here. Right here, the Most High was revealing to me the system that He’d just broken me out of with my salvation bought by Yahusha HaMashiach. And He wanted me to explain how it operated to the church. You. You right here. You, the one on this journey of bible study with me.
THERE ARE TWO SYSTEMS: WHICH ONE DO YOU ANSWER TO?
The key to understanding part one of this series is really looking at feudalism for what it is. WordNet 3.0 by Princeton University defines feudalism as, “the social system that developed in Europe in the 8th century; vassals were protected by lords who they had to serve in war.” Had to. Had to. There's no discussion. They had to because of that one word that was in the Wiktionary’s definition: fealty.
“The fidelity,” The American Heritage® Dictionary explains, “owed by a vassal to his feudal lord; The oath of such fidelity; Allegiance.” That’s fealty. This whole system is set up by villains (the text said it, not me) who create and sustain a social system where there’s a lord and there’s a slave. All these benefits of land, of resources, of owning anything worth political or social value is rendered to you through military service to said lord. You’re obligated to this service because of an oath, a religious backed oath, where you swear your loyalty to that villainous lord who legally takes your freedom because now you are farming land that is not yours or accomplishing military requirements while farming said land, that actually belongs to the lord. It’s not yours. Never will be, you’re just a renter. You’re a borrower. And that’s not what the Word of Yah has for you.
The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender.
It’s deep, my friend, because what you see in this proverb is that this applies both ways. You know that the Elohiym owns a cattle on a thousand hills, meaning He’s banking and rolling in wealth and riches and opportunity (Psalm 50:10-12 KJV). He’s a Lord. He’s THE Yahuah. And Yahusha is the Lord of Lords. So when you are a slave to Him, you are not free, but it’s a different kind of not freedom.
You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.
When we are bought with the blood of Yahusha and our sins are atoned for by Him, we are no longer slaves to this villainous system, this world system. There’s a freedom that comes with that because we are no longer bound to the counterfeit. It said clearly in Psalm 50 that it’s the Yahuah Adonai, our Elohiym, who owns everything. So if you’re bound to a villain, you’re bound to a scoundrel, a thief who is perpetrating as the owner of something Yah freely gave to us in the Garden (Genesis 1:26-30 KJV). FREELY gave. And we have that authority of what He gave given back to us, LEGALLY, when we confess Yahusha is the Messiah and plead for the redemptions of our lives from sin through the work of the Cross. So, when you have a conscious understanding of that, why in the world would you want to be a slave to the “god of this world” and his counterfeit system?
The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
Oh. Because you can’t see.
Remember when I said near the beginning of this post I was concerned with the time period? 2 Corinthians 4:4 also mentions time, using the word “age” in the NIV and “world” in the KJV. So I looked up world in the Strong’s Concordance. Really quickly.
The word for world is “aiōn” and means, “period of time, age” [4]. So in this current age that we’re in, HaSatan’s doing his thing. This isn’t the age of the Millennial Reign yet, this isn’t the age of the tribulation yet. This is the last days period (Acts 2:17). This is a Joshua generation that is crossing over the Jordan and taking land in the name of Yahusha HaMashiach, His people being the land (Matthew 13:1-23). He’s looking for laborers for this land (Matthew 9:37-38). And if you are not working for Him, then guess who? Guess whoooo you’re really employed by? And it’s not even employment, it’s a legal fealty to this individual, satan himself.
Now, to drive this home, He had me watch Ridley Scott’s The Last Duel, which was based on actual historical events (and a stunning epic, I must say). I was able to fully comprehend this world’s system after meditating on the drama film for a few days. It’s not out of date, this system, and it’s what many people around the world experience today. You can even see it in modern America with what we like to call capitalism. There has still been a way forged in a capitalistic society where the rich create pockets of land that we have opportunities to buy, but never really own the actual land we live and breathe and sleep and eat on. I’m just trying to paint a picture for you that applies to your understanding. Because it’s this system that is rotting the Bride of Yahusha away to the core.
Fidelity, the word we saw in the definition of fealty, is described by The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language to mean, “faithfulness to obligations, duties, or observances,” or better yet, “the condition or behavior of engaging in sex only with one's spouse or only with one's partner in a sexual relationship.” Hear what the Elohiym is saying today. Because the title of this series was given to me when I read another definition of the word.
“Adherence to the marriage contract” [5].
Adherence to the marriage contract.
The Most High Yah sent me on here today to type up this article to open your eyes to the duality of two systems. If you can’t see them, it’s a lack of faith issue in the One who has come to set you free (2 Corinthians 4:4). You have the Kingdom of Yah and its system (the Way of the Most High Yah, so to speak) and you have a villainous system, an evil thing. A syndicate of darkness that we refer to as the world’s system. These are the two. This kingdom of darkness operates on this and this alone, a perversion of sorts, of the Way that we are to truly walk in as children of the Most High. But this villainous system is also set up like a mirror to the Elohiym’s system with its own bride. If you are not a part of the Bride of Yahusha, you are, by default, a bride to the kingdom of this world’s system. You haven’t been bought out of it by the Blood of Yahusha HaMashiach (Psalm 51:5, Ephesians 2:3). And by being that sort of bride, you are in default in a marital contract with HaSatan himself.
What is the marriage contract entail with the kingdom of Yah? I’ll tell you: it’s the Word of Yah. By following what’s written in it and keeping with the Covenant that is established between Yahuah and Man (Exodus 20-23, Deuteronomy 28), you are keeping a loyal posture to your husband, Yeshua HaMashiach. It’s as simple as that. And this world’s system, when you really see it for what it is, it’s much like the movie The Matrix, where you can be completely blind to the reality of what’s actually going on while living in the world’s system. You won’t recognize the symptoms that the earth is exposing that we’re in the Last Days (2 Timothy 3:1-5). You can be a tool to any demon that wants to infiltrate your body to be used for that system’s ultimate end: to separate you from the truth of Yahusha.
YAH HAS A PURPOSE FOR YOU OUTSIDE OF THE BONDAGE OF THE WORLD’S SYSTEM
I know there were a lot of definitions that we had to go through to get to that point, but that’s where the revelation is. I needed you to see it for yourself, my friend. And I need you to see something else.
Above is the first part to the testimony of our dear brother in Yahusha (Rest in Peace) Howard Pittman.
And this is part two. Watch this. Watch both of them. Quickly. Speeeedddilllyyy. There’s an anointing on his testimony and I can personally attest to what he’s saying because I’ve seen it for myself. I’ve seen demons in military order in certain cities, I’ve seen their military bases and walked their camps. And the Lord said it’s high time people stopped lying to you about hell and how it’s a party and all the fun people are gonna want to go there. No. Absolutely no. Absolutely and totally no. God has a purpose for you, and it’s not the hour to be idle, my friend. This is not an age, so to speak, in which we have the luxury to waste time trying to figure out what we want to do with our lives when we can submit our lives to the Creator and He will tell us Himself what He’s called us here on this earth to accomplish for His kingdom. Otherwise? You’re just working for the world in hopes that what it has to offer you will satisfy, and it won’t.
Leaving the World’s System is the Next Step for the Church of Yah
This was tough. I know it was something that had me really sit back in my seat because it was right there. I knew what the world system was, but I’d never seen it defined so clearly without metaphors and idioms (like with the movie The Matrix.) It was there, right in the dictionary. Right in the Strong’s Concordance. And its template had actually been established in physical form centurieesss before any of us were even born! Because if you go further back than the 8th Century, and investigate the Warring States period (as I mentioned earlier), you’ll see the Fēngjiàn feudal system that was on its way out. That’s ancient China. That’s BCE. So this is nothing new, my friend. This system has been here, and it’s been deployed over multiple continents in many different forms and fashions, yet doing the same thing over and over again: establishing a system of bondage for the children of men.
So it’s why we’re going to go further. In part two, we’re going to understand how we need to give ourselves to the El Shaddai of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob completellyyy to be able to operate outside of this world’s system while we are here on earth. In the world’s system, you try to govern yourself and a lord or principality of this world will come and tell you how you legally cannot buy or sell, you rent and you do not own anything. To get around this? You need the Blood of Yahusha, and by accepting Him as the Messiah, you are now a slave to the freedom from sin we have in Him, Yahusha HaMashiach. If you’re ready to accept Him fully, it’s time to repent, and in this next chapter, I’m going to expose exactly what you’ll be leaving behind and the system you’ll be walking into.
